Arbeau, Thoinot

“theoretician and historian of the dance, whose Orchesographie (1588) contains carefully detailed, step-by-step descriptions of 16th-century and earlier dance forms….[H]e was encouraged to pursue his studies by the Jesuits, who considered dance to be educationally important.”

I’d like to know why the Jesuits considered dance to be educationally important.  It would be interesting to compare their theory with, say, Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences, one of which is kinetic.
